| Barefoot Woodworks is the venue for my hobby and in time where I will sell my creations. I run this small shop out my garage for fun. I started scroll sawing in May of 2004 and have developed a serious interest in this art form. About 5 years ago I got a Dremel scroll saw for my birthday. I put it in the shop and used it for small projects around the house. I attempted to find out about real scrolling but never seemed to find the right resource. Then it all really came together with a trip to the local mega-hardware store. My wife and I were perusing the aisles when we came across the magazine rack. I found a copy of ScrollSaw Workshop. The rest is now history as I completed the bear, the trout puzzle, 2 wall sconces and the Antique Japanese Mantle clock to the right. Where did you get that name? It came in a vision! No, not really, I spend almost of my time barefoot, it is just the way I am. I know, not for everyone. My wife calls me a hillbilly, like that is a bad thing???. I do wear shoes, just not willingly and definitely not at home, only when I have to go out in public with my wife! I really think that being barefoot is healthier for the soul as well as the sole! |
| What I really enjoy about this hobby is simply working with wood. I have always admired those who possessed the mysterious talents of wood craft. I have a couple of cousins that actually have real talent in this area and make their living from it. From quality custom furniture to beautiful custom cabinetry it has always fascinated me. I love the look and feel of beautifully finished wood, the lines of the piece itself. Wood was once living and in a way it continues to live in the finished piece. As I learn more about wood and understand that it continues to change with time and why, it draws me into it even more. God created it, it is beautiful, and hopefully he has bestowed upon me some minuscule talent to work with it and create something beautiful out of it that will bring joy to others. |
