~ Barefoot Woodworks ~                   1 Cor.10:31                   ~Custom  Scroll Saw Creations~
Scroll Saw Box made from red oak using a pattern
by Diana Thompson.  This one is for mom.
My first real project, This one was a real
challenge, I ended up making the frame and
doing the mounting as well.  The bear is cut
from Finnish birch with an American Cherry
stain, also pictured with a clock done later
Wall Sconce from Scrollsaw Workshop magazine.  I made two of them for
my wife and painted them to match the trim in our bedroom that my wife
was re-decorating ala HGTV!  I made small shelves to go behind them to
hold small tea candles and painted them to match the wall so they were
semi-hidden.  I did the same thing with the wooden rod that spans the back
that is used to suspend them from a picture hook.  This was a fun project
and I learned to use a paint sprayer as well.  I ended up taking the fan
blades off the ceiling fan that my wife wanted to replace, taping off the
wicker centers and painting the blades to match, we added some new
sconces and we had a whole new fan.  Thanks HGTV!!
My first clock, (left) is made from Finnish Birch
plywood.  I gave it to my Dad-in-law for fathers
day.  The second clock was made from white
oak and was given to my big sister for Christmas.
The fun is really beginning now!
The first plaque is a pattern from Wildwood Designs, the
lighthouse.  The next two wall plaques made from patterns
by Lora S. Irish.  They are made from white oak with a
Baltic birch backing stained dark walnut.  The backing was
my idea, pretty neat eh?  All three were done while waiting
for materials to arrive to do the Grover Irish clock.
The first Grover Irish Clock.  Pattern purchased from Wildwood Designs.  This clock took me over a month to complete and
now hangs in the living room, but is destined for the bedroom.  The main body and some trim pieces are cut from white oak
and most of the trim and accent pieces are cut from black walnut.  It was finished with a clear danish oil finish.  I have also
done a second version with a reversed wood scheme and a third in Cherry and Black Walnut - the results are below
Little Bird Clock, pattern from Wildwood Designs, made from
white oak with cherry wood accents.  I made this clock for a
friend after she bought the pattern.  I modified the original
pattern by eliminating the designed overlay and doing my
own leaf and scroll accents.
Black Forest Clock, pattern from Wildwood Designs,
made from cherry wood.  The overlay on the pendulum
bob is black walnut.  (Never throw away a usable piece
of scrap wood!!)
Black Forest Clock, done
in Black Walnut and
Cherry.  This one has been
shipped across the country.
This is the Tambour Mantle Clock,
the pattern is from Wildwood
Design.  This is the first project to
come off the new saw.
Grover Irish Clock II - Just like the
first only with a reversed wood
scheme. I still have not decided
what to do with this clock yet so for
now it is hanging in my office at
work.
Corner Cabinet - Cherry wood, Pattern from Wildwood Designs. Not the easiest
pattern I have ever assembled, instructions were somewhat lacking and I had to
figure out a lot on my own but I managed to get through it.
Boxes for friends.  The Dolphins
and the tear drop are from
Diana Thompson's book.
A couple of cuttings for a friend at work.  The brook trout was fun
as it started as just a pattern of a fish that I got to be very creative
with.  The other pattern, a Jeff Gordon cut out I was not happy with.
The pattern was poorly done at best and I wonder if it is authorized
even though I bought it.  Pineapple box made for the same friend at
work that she gave to her friend for a birthday present.  This was a
fun project even though I hate cutting boxes
!
The latest and probably the last version of the Grover Irish
Clock.  This was done in Cherry and Black Walnut and is my
Dad-in-laws Bday present.  This clock was a major award
winner at the Salt Lake County and Utah State Fair!
Christmas presents '06!!
Far left is a music box made from African Padauk and Bubinga for my friends daughter and a Marine Corp emblem plaque
for her son.  In the middle is another music box, this one in Cherry for my wifes mom.  Next to that a Navy Emblem for my
Dad and last is yet another music box in African Padauk, this one for my mom!
Christmas presents '07!!
A clock for Dad, A plaque for Kizzy and Crosses for family!
Whispering Winds Vineyard Clock made
from walnut and Brazilian cherry that I
milled myself!
This project was to
learn how to make
finger joints and I did.
One of my more extensive
projects.  I did the board/case
design and Jim Kape of AZ
designed the chess pieces.  The
board, case and pieces are black
walnut and mahogany.  I milled all
of the wood for this project from
8/4 rough stock.
